Biography of Sirajuddin Aziz:
Sirajuddin Aziz was appointed Banking Mohtasib (Banking
Ombudsman) of Pakistan, taking office on 18 July 2023 after being
notified by the Ministry of Law & Justice on 4 July 2023. He was sworn in
at Aiwan-e-Sadr by the President of Pakistan for a four-year term.
Banking Mohtasib Performance & Customer Relief (2024)
Under his leadership in 2024, the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan
(BMP) resolved 27,753 complaints against commercial banks, granting
relief of Rs 1.65 billion to customers. This is an increase compared to
2023, when 25,493 complaints were resolved and relief amounted to Rs 1.26
billion.
The total number of complaints dealt with in 2024 (including
carry-overs from 2023) was 41,546. The relief provided since the
inception of BMP (in 2005) has reached around Rs 8 billion.
