Story of ClearForMe: is a beauty tech startup helping allergy-prone consumers shop safely, partnering with brands like Ulta and Credo
Story of ClearForMe:
Sabrina Noorani never imagined she would enter the beauty
world. She was once the only female derivatives trader at the New York Stock
Exchange, working with numbers and data. But a sudden skin condition changed
everything. Her lips began to swell, peel, and even led to painful Staph
infections. Desperate to find safe products, she discovered how hard it was to
understand ingredient lists on cosmetics.
Discovering the Hidden Problem
Sabrina realized there was no standard way ingredients were
labeled. Something as common as vitamin C could appear under 35 different
names. Salicylic acid had 12 names, and even water could be listed in over 60
different ways. This lack of clarity made it nearly impossible for people with
allergies or sensitivities to shop safely.
Asking the Right Questions
Her frustration led her to ask three key questions: “What’s
in this product? Why are ingredients so hard to understand? What information
can actually help me before buying?” These questions planted the seed for what
would become ClearForMe—a platform built to bring transparency and simplicity
to ingredient data.
From Wall Street to Beauty Tech
Although she had no background in beauty, Sabrina leaned on
her 15 years of experience in data analytics. She decided to tackle the
ingredient confusion problem not as a beauty insider, but as a consumer and
technologist determined to fix what the industry had overlooked.

Building the Foundation
In 2017, Sabrina began assembling a specialized technology
team. Their mission was simple but ambitious: sort, manage, and make ingredient
information easy to access. The result was a SaaS platform designed for beauty
brands and retailers, helping them deliver ingredient transparency, education,
and search tools to customers.
Making Ingredient Data Accessible
ClearForMe built a massive database with over two million
ingredient profiles. Each ingredient was standardized, cutting through the
confusion of multiple names and synonyms. This system empowered customers to
understand what was in their products, while also helping brands communicate
honestly with their shoppers.
Partnerships with Big Names
The platform quickly attracted attention from leading
retailers like Ulta and Credo Beauty. Credo, known for its focus on clean
beauty, praised ClearForMe as an “excellent partner” for providing bite-sized
education and easy tech integration. This partnership showed the industry that
ingredient transparency was not just needed—it was essential.
Scaling with Impact
By 2023, ClearForMe had grown into a team of 11 people and
partnered with more than 375 brands. Its database covered over 1,400 brands and
millions of ingredients, becoming the backbone for ingredient clarity across
the beauty industry.
Funding and Recognition
ClearForMe received $300,000 in accelerator funding, with
support from the Founder Institute. This backing helped the company grow its
technology and expand partnerships, further solidifying its place as the go-to
platform for ingredient data.
Leading the Clear Beauty Movement
Today, ClearForMe stands as more than just a tech
company—it’s leading what Sabrina calls the “Clear Beauty” movement. The
mission is to empower consumers and brands alike with transparent, standardized
ingredient information. What started as one woman’s struggle with allergies has
grown into a movement reshaping how the beauty world thinks about product
safety and trust.
