Journey of Trader P. R. Sundar
Early Years & Childhood Curiosity
Purisai Rajamani Sundar often known as P.R. Sundar was
born on March 28, 1964, in Purisai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in a
middle-class household with seven siblings and only one primary income, he grew
up watching his father, Rajamani, carefully manage the family’s finances. This
instilled in young Sundar a fascination with numbers, money, and the workings
of personal finance early in life.
Education & Early Career
Sundar attended a Tamil-medium corporation school in
his native region. He demonstrated strength in mathematics and economics, which
became the backbone of his future pursuits. Public sources claim he later
earned a Master of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree, including a tie to University of Cambridge (UK)
in some biographies—though those claims are less reliably documented.
After his studies, he began his professional life as a
mathematics teacher, first in Gujarat, and later moved to Singapore in 1993
where he continued teaching for about eleven years. In 2005, he returned
to India and gradually shifted focus from teaching toward the financial markets
after preparing for NCFM (NSE Academy’s certification in financial markets)
exams.
Journey of Trader P.R. Sundar

From Teacher to Options Trader
He founded Mansun Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (circa 2017)
as the organization behind his trading and teaching brand. In its early years,
Mansun reported net profits of around ₹0.88 crore in FY 2018. By FY 2022, that
jumped to ~₹23.43 crore (including ₹14.06 crore from his F&O trading) per
reports. His F&O profits, in particular, surged—reportedly nearly 21×
growth from ~₹6.83 million in 2018 to ~₹140.6 million in 2022.
However, not all years were smooth. In FY 2020, Mansun
recorded an F&O loss of ~₹1.37 crore, but rebounded in FY 2021 with ~₹5.65
crore profit. Over five years, the net worth of Mansun grew from ~₹10 million
to ~₹355.8 million.
Recognition, Influence & Controversies
As his trading success and digital presence grew, Sundar
became known as a finfluencer—a financial influencer. His YouTube
channel, P R Sundar, is verified and hosts content primarily around options
trading, strategies, hedging, and market outlooks. His Tamil channel
version also addresses trading topics in the regional language.
In December 2022, the SEBI (Securities and Exchange
Board of India) listed Mansun Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. under its “Cause
List” for examination of conducting unregistered investment advisory
activities. Sundar responded by explaining that earlier advisory services were
done via a third-party firm, and once the regulatory concern surfaced, he
claimed to have discontinued those services.
Later, in May 2023, Sundar, his company Mansun
Consultancy, and his co-promoter agreed to a settlement with SEBI: they
would not deal in securities for one year and would return more than ~₹6 crore
(including fees and interest) tied to advisory services that SEBI claimed were
unregistered.
Despite the controversies, his brand persists. Sundar
continues to conduct options trading workshops (both online and offline)
across India. His Instagram and X (Twitter) handles, under @PRSundar64,
remain active with market commentary and promotional content.
Personal Life & Assets
As per public bios, Sundar married Mangaiyarkarasi Sundar
on November 10 (year not precisely confirmed). They have a son named Ashwin
Sundar in some versions of his narrative.
He reportedly owns luxury assets like a Mercedes-Benz
S-Class and Jaguar XF, plus real estate including a penthouse in
Tamil Nadu valued around ₹30 crore and an apartment near Burj Khalifa, Dubai—though
these asset claims are from unverified sources and public biographies.
He also holds OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) status.
Mentorship & Digital Education
Beyond trading, Sundar positions himself as a mentor and
educator. He offers training programs, workshops, and mentorship modules
for aspiring traders. His “Mission Options” series—available on
YouTube—serves as a free educational starter course for options beginners. He
also runs paid options trading workshops, where he teaches strategies,
risk management, and adjustment techniques.
Legacy, Reputation & Current Standing
Sundar’s narrative is complex: from a teacher with a
mathematical bent to a successful and controversial options trader and digital
educator. He is often called “The Wizard of Dalal Street” by admirers,
though critics caution that social media success doesn’t always equal
regulatory compliance or consistent trading performance.
His YouTube shows (like Dalal Street Week Ahead and Pre
Market Reports) are published regularly and draw active viewership. He
continues offering offline and online workshops in major Indian cities, such as
Chennai and Bengaluru.
Given the settlement with SEBI and the regulatory spotlight, Sundar’s story is also a reminder of the fine lines between trading, advice, and regulation. His influence remains strong among aspirant traders, even as questions about transparency and accountability accompany his name.
